Matthew Kieran was Professor of Philosophy and the Arts at the University of Leeds from 2009 - 2021 and was nominated for the Times Higher Young Academic of the Year Award in 2005.

 

Matthew has moved from academic philosophy into mental health psychology.

Matthew's research interests ranged over creativity, art, philosophical psychology and ethics.

 

He is the author of books such as Revealing Art (2005) which has been translated into various languages including Chinese and Korean.

 

He is co-editor of numerous collections such as Creativity and Philosophy (Routledge, 2018) and many papers on creativity, art, and morality.

 

He has given the invited public lecture at the National Icelandic Visual Arts Awards, the Charles Parodi Lecture, International Miami Basel Arts Fair, run workshops at Tate Britain, spoken at festivals and appeared on television and radio.

 

Matthew is a previous chair and vice-president of the British Society of Aesthetics and was an executive committee member and trustee of the Royal Institute of Philosophy.
